We were awarded the first ever small scope Design-Build project at UCIMC. A budget of $356,000 was alotted to perform the transformation of an existing pulmonary procedure room into a new bronchoscopy suite. The feasibility study required a dedicated exhaust fan to the room. UCIMC suggested installing a new exhaust fan from the roof, down seven floors to the basement. However, during our exploratory investigation and code survey, we found a cost effective solution that allowed the medical center to utilize an existing fan. With the added value in the budget, the Medical Center was able to add more architectural finishes to the scope, further beautifying the space.
